Green Slips is the colloquial name for Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance. CTP Insurance is required before you can register your vehicle in New South Wales.

CTP Insurance covers any third party (for example, pedestrians or passengers in another vehicle) in the unfortunate event that your car is involved in an accident. CTP Insurance pays for medical care, lost earnings or more serious costs in the case someone is injured by your vehicle.

CTP Insurance is part of the registration process. However, in New South Wales, you need to obtain separate CTP Insurance prior to registering your vehicle.
